The Family Recruiter reports to the Adult Education Program Coordinator. The Family recruiter is responsible for recruitment, registration and retention of adult learners for the Adult Education Program. The Family Recruiter will work with and be responsible for the adult learners from their respective schools within the George Washington Educational Campus. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  1. Responsible for registration, phone calls, recruitment 
  2. Communicate with adult education students on a regular basis, both in person and by the phone 
  3. Work closely with students to identify and refine educational and career goals and provides ongoing advisement 
  4. Support with the design of appropriate advertising material and outreach 
  5. Contacts students when absent 
  6. Maintain contact with current and past students in an effort to promote retention and educational continuity 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: 

This is a part-time position. Ability to work afternoons, evenings and Saturdays.

The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

  • Remain stationary and/or ambulate for the duration of instruction and presentations, addressing and/or monitoring students at least 40% of the time. 
  • Remain in a stationary position at a work station and use a computer at least 60% of the time. 


Education and/or experience required: 

  •  Experience working with adult learners. 
  • Experience with community outreach a plus. 

Skills, Licenses and/or competencies required: 

  • Possess effective communication skills both orally and in writing 
  • Possess effective interpersonal and organizational skills 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the school and the community 
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, and some weekend assignments
