Actors Jeffrey Morgan & Hilarie Burton Lend Astor Services Star Power & Sweat
Renovate Treatment Center for Disabled Children
One of TV’s hottest couples, Grey’s Anatomy heartthrob and heart patient Jeffrey Dean Morgan and his wife, former One Tree Hill star Hilarie Burton, are lending not just star power but sweat and muscles to help renovate Astor Services for Children & Families, a Catholic Charities affiliated residential treatment center that serves children with disabilities and their families.
The couple’s focus today through Friday, April 21, is renovating 10 of the center’s 44 beds. Right now they are developing finish selections and designs as well as securing pro-bono contractors and coordinating donated goods. From there, they plan to help renovate four existing wings, then raise enough money to build an entirely new wing.
Already big Astor supporters, Mr. Morgan and Ms. Burton helped with the agency’s fall fundraiser for this project.
“I’m proud that out of all of New York State, our community is where the Astor organization decided to bring these important kids,” Mr. Morgan says as he takes a break from renovations.
Astor Services for Children and Families has been providing behavioral and educational services in a caring environment since 1953. Here children with disabilities and their families find strength, healing, hope and trust. Astor now serves more than 7,000 children and families annually in more than 33 locations in the Bronx and Hudson Valley.
“We are extremely grateful for the support and initiative Hilarie and Jeffrey” says Ed Pruitt, assistant executive director, residential programs at Astor. “The care, focus and commitment displayed is matched only by their compassion for the children and a deep sense of community.”
